Black and Tan Coyote by Grunerhund Black and Tan Coyote by Grunerhund
Black and tan coyote (male). To be life sized. He has a couple of slip spots I will need to cut and sew and a large exit hole on his right shoulder but came out much better than I had expected. The seller I bought him from raw did not properly insulate the box when I first got him and I thought he would have slipped a hell of a lot more than he did. Stop Rot is a magical thing. I’m really happy to have him back home. Sivko Fur Inc. did a great job on him.

How will he be lifesized with the large genitalia area missing? Will that get replaced by something?

All his genitalia is intact. The trapper I bought him from just skinned him out oddly (instead of casing from leg to leg, around or through the anus, leaving the genitals alone, he instead went around the scrotum and sheath? leaving it off to one side, I had to remove the testicles and baculum so I know it's there, lol). For symmetry's sake, I tucked in underneath when I originally took the pictures. It's going to be fun to sew. Why can't people just cut in a strait line. Lol.

Oh, it's always fun to have to remove testicles someone didn't take off from a pelt! Has happened to me and my friend several times
It frustrates me as well how some people really cannot seem to make proper straight cuts on pelts, once I got a squirrel who looked like someone blind skinned it. A real pain that will be sewing wise. ;XD At least it is all there though!

Also, that red coyote you had was beautiful. If you don't mind me asking how much she was? Her fur is almost red fox color. I wish I had been around when you were selling her (though she was probably out of my range)

Personally that one and this tan one are the prettiest yotes I've seen. Along with a melanistic one I saw sometime back.

Thanks.

One of my first mounts was a red coyote pup who the trapper had allowed his young sons to skin. When I got it one of the forelimbs was like swiss cheese. I somehow managed to piece it back together and it didn't come out half bad. But my fingers and hands weren't too happy about it (it didn't help that I had sliced one of my fingers open with a scaple while working on it, lol).

The red coyote initially cost me $50 as a trapper dried hide. I then spent around $75 (plus shipping to and from) to have it taxidermy tanned by Sivko Fur in New York. I later sold it for the combined cost of initial purchase and tannery fees: $125.

Why would anyone even...
At least you got him sewed back up.. Was it just his forearm that was a mess or did he have face damage as well you had to fix?

I would have thought she would have been alot more
Personally I think you under-priced her, but that is fair that you sold her for the same price you put into.

It is nice to be able to get raw hides since usually they are much cheaper even after paying tanning costs than buying the same animal fully tanned.

I'll have to keep an eye out for some pretty 'yotes for my own

The forearm was pretty much in tatters from the armpit down through the elbow and the upper portion of the leg. It also has some large holes in the abdomen I had to sew up, but the face was in good shape.

I ended up selling the red coyote to someone who had helped me out in the past, otherwise I probably would have priced her a bit higher. She went to a great home and was made into a beautiful headdress by the person who bought her.
